get it transferred into gold coins and swim in it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

really though?
i'd probably invest it all for a year or so, and after a year i'd use the interest for "fun" things.
ok, ok, i'd probably buy a new car and a few new toys as well, but out of a billion dollars that'd be virtually nothing anyway, so it doesn't count /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Fund the private space race with some. Fund some home makeovers with some. Fund some charities with some.

Buy a house and a new car, pay back some personal loans and set up some college funds.

Just vanilla, sorry.

Buy the best 7 or 8 honeys (with the hottest bodies) that money can buy... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

A playboy mansion to put them all in...

Party all day long and night (with my honeys)...

Make a few large donations to some worthwhile charities

A Ferrari F50 in the driveway...
A private jet...

Provide a lavish lifestyle for my parents, and sisters.

Just plain vanilla stuff, really!

I don't doubt I'd do more than a few extravagant things early on, but I'd talk to a financial advisor before I spent any serious amount of it.

Gef out of debt and stay that way.

I think I'd put some amount into T-bills or some other stable investment to ensure a comfortable minimum income lest I get stupid and buy several expensive somethings or throw one too many wild parties.

Maybe something really dumb like buy the company I used to work for and fire all the stupid people still working there - maybe get it running properly since there was some real potential in some of the people there and I have (had) some feel for the industry... but that wouldn't put any meaninful dent in US $1 billion.

Help out some of my friends and family that are struggling with monetary issues too large for them to handle easily.

Perhaps I'd start a foundation and see if some different approaches to solving social problems would yield results.

Hmmm... nothing too original. I'm not going to claim that I "wouldn't change a bit!" because I really doubt that would hold true for more than a few days.

Hmmm
I would wish to buy an Island with renewable power.
I would buy Me a Judge and a Cop and maby a Politicain (need to keep My Island safe from unwhanted guests)
A few nameless henchmen
A pile of gold coins to sleep on,
Take care of My family,

spend the rest of my life in very comfy pajamas and flip-flops!
I might buy a new bladder, the one I have is defective and sadly I lost my sales receipt so I can't return it.

Finaly I would Invest in items to aid My quest for world domination! Muha ha ha!

That's a good one.

I'd probably spend some at first. I would go and buy any of the cars that I'd want, buy flashlights for everybody (maybe even buy large percentages of stock in flashlight companies(Surefire would be the first) to the point where I would own them), get my entire family on a solid financial road, and donate a lot of it to charity.

I'd put whatever is left in a bank with high interest and not touch it until I'm out of college. I think the interest on half a billion dollars would be a considerable amount after 8-10 years /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif.

Then, I'd just live a life of luxury (I'd probably buy Hawaii /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif. and you all could stay there of course with your families.)

AND/OR

Live a life much like Howard Hughes ( without the OCD and creepiness). Because aeroplanes rock

That's what I'd probably do. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

A billion is an awful hefty amount...

We've been daydreaming about amounts like 20-30 million.

Buy/Build a SMOKING mother of a building for our business. Hire people to actually run it.

A nice custom home on NICE acreage. A few new vehicles, nothing extremely exotic however.

A really nice motor home so I can go see America!!!

The bulk in an account, so I can live off the interest.

And of course, some charitable donations!

I would buy the Neverland Ranch, get plastic surgery and become Michael Jackson!

Just kidding. I would improve my lifestyle and that of my relatives in all the usual ways (hopefully nothong too outrageous, but definitely enjoy it) and then set up a charitable foundation for what purpose? Hard to decide. But probably focusing on worldwide child health and education issues as well as AIDS prevention. The needs of child tsunami victums would be high on the list. A donation to CPF would not be overlooked, either.

By the way, before I sound like a generous person, I have to admit that if I won only a million dollars, I am stingy enough that I probably wouldn't share a penny of it, but a billion is more than I could ever spend, so doing something good with it is not very painful.
