Are you talking about the 3led 1AA light? If so,
Yes, the "lens" can be taken out. It is really a cup and the led's plastic holder fits inside the cup. You have to remove the white plastic keeper o-ring in the front of the bezel. Then push the lens and leds out the front of the bezel. I put dimes in the back of the bezel and screw the batt tube on to slowly push the lens out. Add more dimes as you bottom out.
The ID of the lens is a perfect fit for the IMS 17mm reflector.
If you want to put in a luxeon, make a round aluminum plug 1/8th inch or thicker to fit inside of the tube. It will be your heat sink, use thermal expoxy to glue the lux to it. Drill small holes for the wires. You can either use the stock Dorcy circuit, a madmax or badboy booster. As you only have 1 batt at 1.5v , 350ma current is about all you expect. You can get more if you use a lithium L91 or much more if you use a rechargable 14500 li-ion. I use rechargable li-ion and they heat the light up!
Good luck
