I got it apart, but I had to machine it apart /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyone have a great idea like the freeze and pop method for the switch?

Cutting it apart is OK but it is a multistage job.
1) cut away alum to expose stainless ring.
2) cut groove in stainless ring
3) pry out switch
4) machine off pry marks on alum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
5) assamble switch
6) machine off pry area on stainless ring

Q) Why the heck am I taking them apart??
A) So I can anodize them custom colors!

Q) Are they for sale?
A) Yep.

Q) Will they be modded?
A) Yep. Badboy boards and Cree white and UV leds.

Q) When will they be ready?
A) Hmmm....later /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You're anodizing the tailcap ring to match the led colors? Also, I have to wonder: The X1 tailcap is not too impressive to begin with. If you rebuild it, can you make it better? I fear, though, that fooling with it might make it worse.

Are these going to be hard anodized? If so that would be attractive as purchase option.

I think the negative contact is held in place by a plastic ring with bits extruded out of 6 little holes. Have you tried burning them off with your soldering iron?

H2 not H3. H3 can only be dyed black or darkgreen due to very small pore size. They come H3 from Inova.

I want to do teal, orange, hot pink, copper, splash etc.
Getting the disk off won't help. The stainless ring has to come out.

Is it press fitted like the other end? Maybe just make a jig and pick the right size dowel and use force to pop it out.

Also, do you have any of the new colored ano x1s?
