Allen keys are excellent at determining correct torque. I do up bolts with the Allen key back to front untill bolt stops turning then spin the Allen key around. Holding the Allen key between your thumb and fingers (as opposed to a fist) then continue to carefully tighten until the bolt stops and the key begins to flex. When it flexes you are done. They use the appropriate size bolt depending on how much torque is required. Big bolt more torque, smaller bolt less so. And torquing until the appropriate sized key begins to flex is a good rule of thumb for those who do not own torque wrenches.
