12 noon, the Arc quit glowing sometime between 10:00 and now. Measured .58v... Everyone else status quo, time for more popcorn. 99hrs. for Tasklight, 63hrs. for the remaining AAA's?
My Eiger is apparently a Rebel, too. The newer Cree (XP-G?) is more efficient. The .5 power level Eiger that has been mentioned sounds very appealing...:)
I just got off the phone with Curt and he said he has an XPG running as low as 13mA. He said he will post some results of testing he has done. I was willing to order right then but I guess I will wait to see the results.
13ma compared to 35ma.... So I would really have no heat problems with the new Eigers am I? Wow, I plan to totally abuse the runtime on this light when I get it... It's kind of cool to think that with this new bulb, the 13ma light is still going to be brighter than the light that is being driven harder. I just hope for the sake of the R5, that the runtime will be better than this rebel that we see here. But even if I wanted the matterhorn, I believe Curt said he has run out or is ending production, one of the two...:(
I think Curt said in the thread the regular #1 Eiger XP-G was 35-40mA. When I mentioned 13mA earlier, it was what Curt was using to test lower outputs. Not sure if I can order one that low as he didn't say yes or no, just that he was posting results to see what CPF had to say.
It did seem a little too good to be true at the moment. Maybe given a year it will be a reality. I was just thinking, I could run that little stinker forever lol :p
Eiger vs. Matty aside, 63 hours is impressive no matter what. Thinking in real world terms, it's an incredible amount of runtime.
One has to remember in nearly all real-world useage scenarios, one probably isn't going to be running these lights constantly, so the hours of runtime seen here will be spread over days or weeks. Any of these AAAs would make great power-outage lights because of their small size, endless runtime, and ease of battery availability.
Don't know what a side by side would show. (Hint!)
