Hi everyone,
I was just wandering if it is common to use RCR or IMR cells in a Surefire L1 or L2? I know that in these particular lights that the driver is in the body rather than the head, and that it is a boost driver. The ones I have tested boost to an open circuit voltage of around 7ish volts with primaries, and around 8+ volts with RCRs.
I know for sure that it does work, because I have tried it. The LED was brighter and nothing seemed to be bothered by it, ie no hot tail spring, flickering, or color change in the light.
My question is are any of you using rechargeables in these lights on a daily basis? Has anyone ever had a driver or other go out as a result of doing this?
