I've been eyeing one of these for a long time. Today a listing on eBay caught my attention. It has the same number (#0009 of 1000) as a previous on this forum from this year - but different descriptions & surefire.com logo. Current eBay listing says it is "New". January post on this forum says "This has, as you can tell by the photos, seen some pocket time and has some light wear. Still functions flawlessly" and was modified.

As background, I've got 10+ Surefires, including 2 T1As, and each one gets a ton of use/wear - so I don't care as much about appearance as performance. And yes, I know eBay is totally 'buyer beware".

Thanks in advance!

Well, the buyer in the CPFMP thread says "upper left" of the USA, and the ebay seller is based in portland, OR. it probably is the same person.

I think different people have different opinions on what constitutes "new". The CPFMP seller may have overestimated the wear on the light, and the ebay seller may be advertising it as new because it appears as such to most regular folks.

I don't think it's a knock off on ebay, and the seller, while not having a TON of transactions, does have 116 with 100% feedback. If you want to buy it, just make sure you use PayPal and a credit card so you have some recourse in case things go sideways after you receive the light.

I'd be real interested to see a photo of the actual item (showing the s/n), next to a card with the sellers handle and today's date ... :duh2:

The seller's last photo in the listing is a picture used in the avatar of REDLED here on the forum. Y'all think someone is trying to scam?

Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but the text on the eBay one looks a bit off and doesn't seem to match the one on CPFMP.

On the eBay one, it looks like: #0009 of 1000 (the #0009 looks more bold than the "of 1000" part.

In comparison, the CPFMP photos looks even: #0009 of 1000.

Could the eBay one be a fake?

That photo was actually taken by Shelby Chan, I believe, a longtime member and photographer for SureFire, for some promo materials. RedLed did not take it.

What is no joke is that the pics are clearly of a light owned by archimedes. Don, are you going to contact the seller?

 Strange things are afoot. Sure looks like a real Titan, but I find it hard to believe there are duplicate serial numbers out there. Maybe not impossible, but highly unlikely... I'll be watching the auction! Maybe ask a question or two.

Great detective work guys. It's going to be good to get to the bottom of this.

With the large number of fakes now being made I am betting this is a fake. Sad days.

The only other possibility is Surefire stuffed up and made two No:9 unlikely
If it is a fake awhile ago I purchased a fake SW01 by mistake claimed it on PayPal and got my money back.
I had to supply a Surefire dealers report saying they believed it was a fake and state that I will destroy it.

I asked seller to take pic with their name and the serial number, he or she posted said picture for me. Seller seems legit, I'm not sure if the photo is public in the listing or not. If not, I can screen shot and post here. The mystery deepens...
