G4 Halogen Bulbs - 3.6V 4.8V 8.4V 10.8V

If you are looking for G4 Halogen bulbs with voltage 3.6V, 4.8V, 8.4V and 10.8V, have a look at Amazon Japan.
These are made by Panasonic and Toshiba, since more than 10 years ago. I am not sure if they are discontinued or not.
I did some research and I believe these have standard size and spec just like those Philips G4 7388 or 5761, with 100 hours bulb life.
This is not an advertisement and I hope I can post here because these are super rare and some people may need these.

What a sweet 1x26650 could be those 3.6 volt bulbs.
Those 8.4V, 30W are excellent replacement for Philips 5761 and 10.8V, 30W are close replacement for WA1185

Try to find a re-shipping company, something like Buyee (I have not used this one before).

I ordered the 3.6V and 4.8V halogen bulbs just for this D36 32650 light (need to expand the hole of reflector).

I have recently bought some of the 10.8V and 8.4V bulbs. These are awesome bulbs as the 10.8V fits 3 x 3.7V Li-ions and the 8.4V fits 3 x 3.2V Lifepo4 batteries perfectly. They are both 30W bulb, just like the Philips 5761. If your incandescent flashlight is not bright enough you should definitely try these 30W bulbs.

I just came on to ask about cheap G4 lamps, for example on US Amazon, "Vstar Q10/G4/CL/12V,35Watt,T3 JC Type,12 Volt,G4 Bi-pin Base,Halogen Light Bulb(35W 10Pack)" are pretty cheap, even tho I'll burn through them all, seems worth it. Am I wrong? Do the cheap G4 lamps blow hard?

These "2,000 Hours bulb life" are not suitable for flashlight unless you over drive it at much higher voltage. Long time ago I tried to use those 6V 2,000 hours bulb with 3 x Li-ions, it worked and fun but the bulb got darken quickly.

If you are looking for Halogen bulb for flashlight usage, go for those with 100 hours bulb life. Or better with 50 hours. (Note, for Xenon bulb a 20-hour bulb life is better).

Thank you so much for posting this. Looks like they can ship to Canada, so that gets things a lot closer to the US anyways.

I ordered a few each of the 8.4V, 10.8V and 3.6V 13W and will report back after they arrive. Shipping was about $17 for 12 bulbs (about the same as for 1 bulb IIRC) and estimated duties/taxes was about $9, both in USD (actual prices are in yen).

EDIT - in hindsight I should have picked up some 4.8V 13W bulbs as well - they seem like they might turn out to be a great MagCharger upgrade, much like a 5V 17W WA1160.

This is great timing for me, since my Mag85 has become unusable since the last bulb blew and my last 9aa pack stopped charging.

If I had had the brains God gave a turnip I would have purchased an FM 9aa holder when they were being made, but I guess I figured "hey I have two 9aa packs being used to pump abusive current levels into a flashlight, I'm sure they will last forever"

It's a 6V bulb but seems like it is (or at least was when measured) capable of pretty significant overdrive, taking it up into the 1185 range or higher according to LuxLuthor's measurements (Hikari is about half way down the page):

It starts off like an Osram 64250 (which I already have on order) but while the Osram flashed at 8.1v and ~1100 lumens the Hikari kept going right up to 12V and >2800 lumens. No guarantee that current production still does that, of course.

Mentioning this mostly for anyone in the US such as chillinn - both bulb and shipping are reasonable if you are in the USA, while amazon.jp seems more accessible if you are outside the USA:

You may want to look at the Philips 7388 as well - another 6V bulb and may be brighter at 8.4v than the Hikari. I don't have a good source for that one yet.

Anyways, I ordered some of the Hikari JC-5607's (6V 20W) along with a few of the 10W and 30W to play with. Between those and the Panasonic's I ordered from konifans' links I feel like I have gone from despair back to serenity after my last 1185 blew.

I tried to order some to the UK but couldn't so gave up shame as these look great... Lucky I still have 4 spare 1185 for my SF m6 and it's on a soft start. Why would they deliver to Canada but not the UK or US? Especially the US? Strange

I'm interested to hear any other feedback on these bulbs.

So far I've tried the 10.8v (3x 18650) and the two Panasonic 3.6v bulbs (1x 26650).

10.8v was pretty underwhelming and looks like it could do with being overdriven more. Not as bright or as white as a Philips 7387 or 7388 on 2x Li-ion.

Like @fivemega I thought the 3.6v bulbs would be great for a single 26650 set-up but again they look quite underdriven. Better when I tried on 4 eneloops but then it's a very different package.
