Bought a LED (luxan rebel) 2D maglite back in 2010 and later sold it to my brother in law. He not long ago gave it back and the switch was bad. Ordered the switch under warranty--paid $12 for shipping. The lady said the switch assembly came with the led and I was thinking that it would be nice if it came with the updated led and the high and low settings.....it did!! Wow, what a difference! Me got new toy he he.

Thanks Tony

Actually it is called Lumencraft now but either name will get you there.
I've actually never seen Matt's drop in anywhere but from him. He does sell firefly drop ins that other people have. His is the 3 led. Firefly is one led with reflector.

Still curious if anyone has bought from limelight

I'm thinking about whether or not it's worth it to replace the battery for my ML150LR.

It's on nightstand duty usually, though I use it sometimes and I frequently charge / check it to make sure it's ready when needed.

Unfortunately last check it didn't work, so I figured I must have forgotten to get it charged. But after charging (light went from red to green over time like usual) it didn't work and after checking discovered this is what it looks like. The light is about 4 years old now (way out of official waranty).

Here in Europe a replacement battery goes for EUR 73, which is about $79 currently (MAG sells them for $38 on their website, but no international shipping). That's a lot of money for a battery and could get myself a real nice replacement light for that.

Looks like it leaked 😱

Unfortunately the way the 150 is set up, the electronic switch can deplete the battery to the point the charger won't recognize it needs a charge or something like that. In other words the battery charger won't charge it. I suppose the battery does not have a low voltage cut off. Maybe that is because it draws so much on high it would contantly trip the circuit so a voltage protection circuit in the battery would be a problem?

All I know is mine did it after the warranty expired. It did not look like yours though ishsngo.

When the new battery arrived I now make sure to untighten the tailcap with the light still turned on and when it shuts off I add another half turn to ensure the electronic switch is not draining the battery.

In police use they likely stay on a charger when not in use where us consumers don't do that as a rule. Maybe some do.

CD, sounds like you are going to buy one. So please let us Mag fans know if it is worth the bucks.

Tell AU Ross you plan to do a comprehensive review, and maybe he will send you a complimentary drop-in to test, promoting his stuff here on CPF?

If you are interested in that drop in, I think I would get it from Adventure Sport/ Lumencraft. Matt Smith is a member here and a supporter here, I think. He is a good guy. I got one from him and it outperforms his advertized specs.
