If you want to get rid of the tip then use the Welch Allyn bulbs instead. They pump out through the base and have much nicer tips.

The light from the filament going through the bulb tip is part of the spill, so that may be affected. I haven't looked closely but the Welch Allyn bulbs may have slightly cleaner spill patterns than the Philips 5761.

Well, I got the 5761 fired up a couple of days ago. Wow, this thing is bright!!

The beam also is quite good, although that probably has more to do with the FM Throwmaster than anything else. I have an early FM MOP mag reflector, so I will have to try that and see how different the beam is.

All in all an awesome light, especially when regulated.:twothumbs

It is the red one (the Throwmaster gives it away :naughty:), 2.5D cutdown from 4D by Mac, running from 3 26500 Li-Ion's. Regular 2D for size comparison.

Cheers,

The 5761 is still pretty impressive even with the M2 reflective I have.
Regulated, of course!
I've visited Mac's shop. That man has his sh*t together. It was the impetus to make me build up my shop.
