Just my $0.02 is that surrounding LED with black mate duracoat instead of GID would be more pleasant to look at. GID is cool when glowing in dark but not very aesthetic IMHO under day light.

You could also use daylight GID colors to add some flare. Mix in a bit of green to enhance the glow.

Actually I think it's the very opposite. Are you forgetting about the 6 visable wires if the GID was not used? Also since that picture was taken with a flash it looks much better is person. Maybe I'll snap a picture later without flash and post it.

I think this Surefire is very expensive, because it's a lot of work in this light.
