"2-AAA" Seoul or Cree light - Do you want one?

Would you buy a 2AAA Cree or Seoul light if offered at $50?

There doesn't seem to be any 2xAAA on the market. I wonder how much interest there would be.

Let's say a company like Fenix comes out with a L0D-CE but with a 2AA tube for extra brightness and runtime options, for about $50. Would you buy it?

Would anyone like to photoshop what it would look like? :grin2:

A Fenix L0D CE with an additional AAA battery would be 115 mm long (like a P3D CE) and look like a fat felt tip pen. Sorry but I would'nt buy it.

As to Photoshop I will try hoping Fenix does not sue me...

Fenix 2 x AAA prototype, made in Italy not in China:

Fenix please please forgive me !!!! :naughty:

That would be pretty much the size and shape of a pen.
I consider it useful for professionals who carry a flashlight in their shirt / coat pocket. A 1xAAA just sinks too deep into the pocket while a clip makes it a bit of a hazzle to pull out.

A 2xAAA with a head strap would give a more comfortable headlamp than a 2xAA which is a tad too heavy.

Based on the professions that would appreciate such a light, it should not only be made available with a knurled black aluminium body but with a mostly smooth stainless steel one, too.

I personally wouldn't buy one. My next step up from 1xAAA is 1xAA then 2xAA or 18650. Larger diameter makes it nicer to hold and AA batteries deliver more energy for the same money as AAAs.

No, I don't think I would.
Bigger than an AAA and it's not a keychain light.

If it's not a keychain light then it's better as an AA

I'd just like a single AAA light with a really white 5mm LED (not blue with a yellow ring)

That price range makes it competitive with the 2AAA Peak Baltic.
I would take a Baltic over a Fenix based light.
HOWEVER, it was 2-stage and had a legitimate clickie switch, NOW your talkin' "interest".

I would like to see a 2AAA Cree or Seoul light with the two batteries side-by-side, preferably made in USA.

Similar to the Underwater Kinetics 2AAA eLED Mini Pocket Light form factor:

That would be a very interesting light. I've got a couple of the UK 2AAA eLED lights, and while the output is pretty awful by today's standards, I very much like the form factor.

Come to think of it, I'd also like this type of body for 2AA lights. That would suit me a heck of a lot better than the long body of the L2D CE and the like.

The 2 AAA minimag was always one of my favored pocket lights, I would love an equivilent sized LED light. I want to see the Inova Bolt 2 AAA in person, I have heard it is a bit larger than the Minimag.

I also want a pocket clip on it for rear hip pocket carry.

I think a 2xAAA tube for L0D-CE would be useful, but only if it had an integral clicky and clip -- untwisting it woudl then act as a lockout. At that point, you have a light esentially the size of a typical pen that could be easily clipped to a shirt pocket. I have actually tested the L0D-CE on 2xNiMH with a multimeter and some loose wires, and the output is very comparable to running the L0D-CE on 10440 LiIon, but with much, much longer runtimes (based on the current drawn, and capacity).

It would be interesting as a shirt pocket light.

To be useful it would have to be light (narrow), have a pocket clip, a clickie switch,
multiple output, a UI like the L1D-CE, a low of about 3 or 4 lm, medium of 12 lm and a high of 30 to 40 lm.

Probably a lower low would be even better for a medical doctor as he wouldn't want to blind his patient with it. "Look at the light and follow it"; "open your mouth, say ah!". For this use, the surface should be pretty smooth for easy cleaning.

What about four or more levels?

For me, the ideal 2AAA light would have:

A Cree or Seoul. A Q3 Cree would allow for considerably higher brightness than a P4 with the same runtime.

Side-by-side batteries, like the UK 2AAA mini eLED.

off>low>med>high, or off>low>high. Maybe off>med>low>high

A 2-3 lumen low, 20-30 lumen medium, and best high you can get with a 30 minute runtime. With a Q3 and 2 NiMH or Lithium AAAs, this could be over 100 lumens. Well, emitter/paper lumens.

Real HAIII and waterproofness. I.e. Arc, Peak, or Surefire.

Optional titanium body (Not that I could afford it :sssh:)
It would also have a burst mode of 5000 lumens for 10 seconds.

And a clicky if it could be included without impacting size and tailstandability. (New word?)

Oh, and it would cost $40, and we would get a 50% CPF discount. Anyone else interested?

5000 lumens! Get real, that would be instant poof!

Tailstanding is a non issue for a long 2 AAA, it would be too unstable. (I know! You like side by side, me too).

I would definitely buy this light.

A light about the size of my RiverRock 2AAA,with Seoul/Cree, would be great. Even with the same tail-switch as the RR - press for momentary on, twist for constant on.
