I did quite a bit of searching but have not found satisfactory answers. Can someone help me out with the following?

1. What is an OP reflector? What are other options?

2. I have an older 6P that I plan on putting a Nailbender SST-50 in. Will the stock window work? I understand the pros/cons of UCL and Pyrex; do I need to upgrade to avoid melting?

Thanks

OP= Orange Peel. Basically, light texturing on the reflector to smooth out the beam pattern of a light, or increase beam width. Reffered to as orange peel, because it looks reminiscent of the peel of an orange (texture wise, not color).

Mule,

If you melt the 6P lens return it to SF for a replacement. Also send them pics of your burned hands and the aluminum slag that was your 6P.....

Seriously, you'll find you shut off your light when it gets hot, long before any melting occurs...

OK. Thanks for the replies. I was under the impression that I needed something more than the standard 6P lens to run cutting edge bins. Obviously not.

Just the hotwires - the hottest P60-size dropin I've seen was a triple XP-G that ran at 4.5 amps - 14 watts. That's toasty, but you won't melt glass. I suppose you could DD a solid array of XP-Gs in parallel from two IMR batteries, but that'd be silly.
