2008 Surefire - new models???

Yea and that's about all anyone seems to know. Surefire is either tight lipped or those that know AIN'T talkin. So we are all eagerly waiting, as I'm sure everyone does every year.

. If I heard correctly, the U2 Ultra does NOT appear in the new catalog, and the 2 new lights do have "U" designators.
I am only assuming these are LED models, but I cannot be sure. I didn't confirm that point. 400 lumens seems pretty bright for an LED, but I expect Surefire would be on the forefront. Multiple bulbs, perhaps?? (purley a guess)
There was also mention of a new HID model.

That would make sense as well. I've heard that SF is putting more R&D money into HID lighting.
Is it SHOT Show yet? HUH HUH HUH I really wish I could have made SHOT again this year, oh well i'll aim for next year

Hmmm ... Uncle George Bush is gonna send me $600 to stimulate the economy (aka my Surefire collection) ... should cover maybe two of these:thumbsup:
I also have been researching the L5 and called SF asking about it. The tech told me to wait for the new model and that it will be 130 lumens and have a longer runtiime.

Wow!! I hope this speculation turns out to be true and not vapor!!!!
The paper catalog lists the L5 as 120 Lumens with Cree bulb, but this never made it to market. It remained as the 100 lumen model, at least that was my understanding.

UV2 - "Invictus" 5-400 Lumens
UA2 - "Optimus" 5-200 Lumens
If my info is incorrect, then they went to pretty good lengths to throw out decoy info.
I hope it's correct as much as anyone! Once again, this came from a legit channel inside the company.

I read with much interest about the E1B but it just wasn't quite enough for me to add to my (pitifully) small SF collection... but a light with 5-200 lumens?!
I hope this is true 'cos I would definitely be interested in that one and I sure could add a new SF to my collection... Guess I'll be saving some $$$ for this one!

The new year's release is usually at the SHOT show in Las Vegas. This year it is Feb. 2-5. Ideally they will have catalogs available there and then by mail request. If they were a perfect company, which few are, their updated web-site would launch near the same time too.
