I really love my new CR123A + 9 volt Xenon MagMod.

For the next step in my incandescent journey, I just bought a 2D to 8AA adaptor. But what light bulbs can I put with it? For the purposes of this question, here are the assumptions:

1) I can install up to 3 dummy cells for voltage variety and spec.

2) I can install a boro lens

3) I can install a cam'd aluminum reflector

4) I want to keep/use my stock bulb mount (no bi-pins)

And I'm not looking for a single option, but rather to map out all the options.

easiest I think is the old ROP, 2 dummies will bring your voltage down to same as 6AA - 2D and then with the metal reflector and boro lense, you can run the ROP high or low bulb.

Lots of possibilities with a couple dummy cells: ROP, 1111, 1274, 5761, etc.

Potted bulbs (aside from the ROP) can be a little tough to come by. Keep an eye open for one of fivemega's PR To Bi-Pin adapters and you'll have more options.

+1 on the ROP. With the ROP-High, you should have no prob running with 7AAs and 1 dummy as long as you are not using the high current cells.

Use one dummy cell and run a WA1274. Or better yet, figure out how to put your hands on a hotdriver and run the 1274 regulated on all eight cells.

I am currently running a ROP high bulb in a Mag2D using an 8aa-2d pack with just a single dummy cell and 7aa. It's a nice bright white and no instaflashes yet.
