Hi all,

I have the fivemega FM1909 and with the 2 Deep smo reflector it looks perfect. This is in my 2D with 3 IMR C cells with stock switch and no soft-start.

I wanted to put 4 IMR C cells in a 3D Mag. What lamp can I use that will not require me to change the stock switch or need a soft-start?

Perhaps even a 4D Mag with 5 IMR C cells if the above criteria is met and 4000 lumens is expected.

Thanks,
Jose

Thank you. I will have to try the Osram 64623 HLX Lamp first. I already have your Bi-pin kit, so all I need is an Osram 64623 lamp. I already have an old 3D Mag for this too and it fits 4 IMR C cells just fine.

So,
This is suppose to start fires:eek:

No soft start on my m*g458. I'm not too sure you need it for 16xAAs so 5x26650s should be ok too. I haven't flashed a bulb yet with my battery packs reading 22.6v. after cooling down.

Hey Jose I have an old 4D mag, the reflector and plastic lens have long since rotted, but everything else is in perfect working order. I used to pack carry this on my camping trips so it has some wear. But all the rubber, plastic and "soft parts" in the body are 100%

Its yours if you wanted it... I would consider it a donation to a worthy cause:thumbsup:

In case you din't know, the 64623 is a larger base and pins then a typical G4 1185 or the 1909 (6.35 vs. 4 mm) so a bipin adapter may not work, unless it is for G6.35 bulbs.

Get a KIU socket!

:)

Thank you,
I didn't know I needed another socket.

What about the Osram 64458?

Can I use the bi-pin socket for that one?

Thanks Jay T.

I was thinking I just needed those other bulbs and the correct cells and wallahhhhhhh..

I have been wanting a bi-focal reflector and maybe while I am at it I should get the correct socket to run these 4000 lumen bulbs.:candle:

Jose-I know this thread is about "no soft start" but have you considered buying one of AlanB's regulated switches?

I believe you have met him and I can tell you these switches are a work of art!!!

Never mind building a puny '623 when you can build a 7000lm. monster with a "633" bulb in a 4D M@G with 5 IMR's with the drive set at 18.5v.

There's a long waiting list but it's worth it.
