A question about fenix remote switches

I have a fenix PD32 UE, it has one tail cap switch, does the rectangular switch on the AER-02 and AER-03, act as a momentary on switch with my light or does it do nothing?
I've only seen them demoed with dual tail cap switch lights and on them it acts as an intensity modifier switch.
