Air travel w/lights & primaries Q?

What is the acceptable way to take your favorite EDC and CR123 or rechargeables with you on a U.S. commercial aircraft? I don't want to stand at security and have to "deep six" some brand new primaries.

I just traveled a few weeks ago from Columbus Ohio to Ft. Myers Florida. I had a Fenix P2d in my shorts pocket, a Surefire E1b in my carry on as well as about 4 spare CR123s in my carry on, and was never questioned about it. I think what they don't like is lithiums in checked baggage because it is hard to get to if something were to explode or catch fire.
