I've searched quite a bit but can't find any definitive answer. I was hoping someone might know what the actual original spec'd o-ring size is for an A3 head to seal the window? Was it fractional or metric?

I can't comment on what the original spec'd size is but I doubt it would be a metric size. I used -029 from oringsusa & it seemed to be a perfect fit.

Odd. I did find one post where it was stated by the poster that it was a #31.

Well I find that hard to believe that -031 would fit unless the 31 that person is referring to means something else.

The OD for -031 is 1-7/8". The OD for the A3 head is just under 1-3/4" so it can't fit.

The OD for -030 is 1-3/4" so this one is still too big to fit inside.

The OD for -029 is 1-5/8". The inside of my A3 head measures just a tad over 1-5/8" & -029 was pretty much a perfect fit for me which was replaced when using your Ti bezel.

The next size down -028 has an OD of 1-1/2". If -028 were to be used it would squeeze right into the reflector.

I doubt Don use a metric size oring. If it is in fact not metric I'm confident that -029 is the correct size. I can send you one if you want to try?

The o-rings in both my A3 heads are slightly larger than the inside diameter of the head. You have to push them in to get them seated around the I.D.

I just checked my stock oring & it does not require me to squeeze it into the head. It drops right in just as the -029. I'm the original owner on this one which is my last one. The oring sits perfectly in the groove between the reflector & the ID of the head. Not sure if different orings were used on different runs?

Going by the specs of -028 to -031, if it's not -029, it may not be SAE, I still say -030 is too big. If it's metric the sizes listed in this size diameter & thickness are listed as equivelents to the SAE sizes.

Only way to find out would be to ask Don.

What size does Erin use for his 38mm heads? Aren't they supposed to be identical?
