Anyone have any idea of what the future holds for Fenix?

I have to wonder....what is coming down the pike from Fenix NOW? More upgraded LEDs/features, or possibly new style lights?

I haven't gotton any of the Rebels yet, I just have original Cree Editions, and I would like to know if anything is imminent before I try and decide on which one to go for next. I'm thinking P3D Rebel for maximum brightness. I don't want to get it and find out that next week there will be special Q5's or someting better. Fenix has been a busy little beaver as of late.

Anyone heard anything?

I guess this is as good a time an any for my first post to CPF. After lurking here a while I bought my first real LED flashlight, an L1T V2. I don't know what they could do to make me regret getting one with a Rebel LED other than a huge jump in efficiency.

I am more curious whether Fenix deems the tactical tailcap and two modes a success. I am really hoping for a P3T RB100!

I modded a P1d with a Q5 Cree and it rocks!, It's a piece of cake to do the upgrade once you open the head.

Man - you figure you guys are expecting a little too much? I mean, LEDs are making rapid progress, but there's only so many flashlights you can build out of AA's and CR123's using Cree or Rebel LEDs...

How do you like that tailcap, BTW?

I like the forward click and momentary on, but I wish it would tailstand. I'm not picky about the feel of the switch so I'm not making any judgements there. It doesn't feel cheaply made so I'm happy.

I really like the two modes. I wouldn't mind having another light with strobe and SOS to play with, but 99% of the time it would be either on low or high.

I've always felt that the clickie switch was the Fenix's achilles heel. I know I have seen new rubber boots for the switches, I was just wondering if the clickies themselves have gotten more robust? Tailcaps are the only thing I've ever had issues with on my Fenixes.

I would say there are quite a bit more that could be done with CR123's. Maybe not as much with the beam itself, but with the body. Who wouldn't be interested in say, a Fenix with the guts of a P3D-Rebel but with a knurled body and a much larger reflector? Or a fenix with a robust, strong Pocket clip?

So I guess what I meant to imply is not so much "is there going to be a new 300-lumen Fenix next week" but rather, when are we going to see something totally new?

Fenix has quite the fan base, and if they started delving more into say, the "Tactical" light market, I'm sure people would rush to get them. It's only a question of "when".

I have no idea but I hope it includes Q5 (or better) emitters in some lights as a special edition. This is the first time they have been beaten to the punch by other manufacturers, since several others already have Q5 in their models.
I would also love a turbo head for their L*D/P*D series. Similar to how the Lumapower Turbohead worked.

My predictions are a Q5 L1D, E1 with rebel and regulated long runtime, the Civictor version 2 with a rebel.

I would assume alot more lights with the Q5 also!

I'd like to see a programmable Fenix. Something like this would be perfect:

5 total modes, but you can disable 4 of them.

In any of those modes, you could program a wide array of output (1 lumens up to max), SOS, or strobe.

It'd have to be easy to program and able to lock-out programming so one could use it without fiddling with the settings by accident.

BTW, there's no need to mention Novatac in response to this.

Why don't you just get a Novatac? j/k

A variable output LxD series with a Q5 Cree. Add a larger head option, low voltage warning, redesign the L2D body :green: design a stronger clickie and use much stronger natural HA-III.

That would amount to Fenix taking the next step in the market.

show you guys some pics of the Q5 P1D that Fenix is going to release:
it is said that this one can reach 180 lumen highest :D

I beat them to the punch!, I have exactly that right now! he he he! P1d Q5! But I did it myself. I'll post a pic next to a L2p USWOH SSC led shortly

Here it is! L1d Q5 led on high vs. L2p Seoul USWOH on high... pic underexposed

keep the actual style (= no strike bezels and other unnecessary things),
possibly add knurling
18650 body
LOW LOW

... thats what would bringt me to buy another one - just a bit of more output (Qx vs. whatever by now): not

FIFO,

Great pics! Where did you get them? Do you know if they will be releasing any of their other models with Q5's in them? I noticed that they have P2D Q5 and P3D Q5 on Pro Light Japan, but we don't always get everything they have listed on their site.

I would LOVE a 2C Fenix that's similar to the L2D or L2T. Imagine the runtime!! :twothumbs

This is what I'm talking about. When are Q5 P2D/P3D's going to become available to us?
