I recently came across this light:
http://www.easy-motorcycle.com/super-24w-hid-xenon-torch-flashlight-spotlight-1500lum-p-109.html

It claims to be 24 watts and 1500 lumens with a lithium ion battery, all for 90 dollars, with a flat rate of 9 dollars for shipping anywhere (apparently). I also have seen some of this light on Ebay, but for 30 dollars more.

Has anyone had any experience with this particular generic HID? It seems like a smaller version of the generic 35 watt that Oracle and Tactical HID (among others) sell.
It also states that it has a 1 year warranty, but I would be interested to see who is actually warrantying it.

What a great deal. I dont think its poorly made. Looks decent, at least better than those china stuff.

But the beamshots look like those from polarion...... they have that 35 watt one going at 170 bucks...

Anyone know the capacity of the battery for the 24 watt one?

Well this light seems like it is chinese (I wouldn't expect anything else at this price point). The battery is 2200Mah and 12.6 volts (seems to be 3 18650s).

The multitude of Ebay listings for this light have more detailed specs on it (if it is the same as those). Apparently it draws 1.8 Amps, although that would mean that the light is only drawing 1.8A X 12.6V or just under 23 watts, not 24.

Runtime is stated as 70 minutes, which fits the 1.8A current draw.

heck I have a light just like it! it is silver but is the same design and same box, mine works very well indeed yes the battery pack seems to be the generic 3 of 18650 battery and the battery pack has it's own led (activated with a switch on the battery pack) the quality of the light is at best passable but it is designed well and works well enough.

-The hid seems to be about 6000k (on mine)
-The front lens is thick glass
-The reflector is a cheap metal that does not do much for the beam
-The hid bulb is mounted right on top of the ballast which is 'potted'
-The light has o rings on the front lens and rear cap I have used it in a heavy snow shower but have not tried when wet!

The beam is floody but with a couple of hundred metres throw as well, very usable but to me it could have been better. The beam can be focused slightly (do not think spot to flood like a maglite it is is more like different type of hot spot with flood remaining the same and not increasing throw as such)

The mains charger works well and it also come with a car charger which I have not used.

Run time I cannot guess at as I use all my lights sparingly
The light I had did not have any instruction manual giving specs, it was quoted on ebay as an 1400 lumens 24 watt hid light from October last year all i can say it was very bright indeed!

Thanks for that link Tally-ho, I hadn't come across that.

Fortean101, does the build quality of the light seem to be better than that of the cheap LED lights from Dealextreme and other chinese sites?

The quality of the light is as you would expect from the generic type of lights from DX about 6-7 out of 10.......... depends what you want to use it for, if like me it was just wanting to own one the quality was fine.

But the beamshots look like those from polarion.....

.......do you mean this picture?

And what does point no.3 in their description mean-" HID flashlight effectively solve the short time following the route of the question raised'????

Definitely not the first time this has happened...
