Will there be any? I'd love to try an ARC 6, they seem really nice, but I'm not shelling out for a light with a P4 LED today, even when on sale.

Cheers

That sounds interesting, but I think an SST-50 would be a better fit; the Arc6 is designed around the large LED form-factor, and the XP-G would at least require an aluminum shim underneath it to bring it into focus at the base of the reflector. Besides, the SST-50 is probably a better match for the maximum output of the Arc6's driver.

Dammit, now I want to try it. Thanks a lot dude. :poke:

You're welcome fyrstormer!

The XP-G is rather big so perhaps it's doable anyway.

The reason I'm asking is becuase I own a XP-G light, a Quark Ti 123, and I carry it a lot more thanks to it's LED than my regular EDC a Ra Clicky, which I otherwise prefer in almost all other respects. I've never tried an Arc 6 but they seem very intriguing with their design, form factor and piston drive.

I want an Arc 6 (7?) with an XP-G!

Cheers

It's possible I don't know what I'm looking at, but my Fenix PD10 Ti has an XP-G R5 in it (unless they're lying to me) and it's about 4mm square, including the PCB it's mounted on -- in other words, the same size as an XP-E and much smaller and thinner than the older LED the Arc6 uses.

Certainly the Arc6 could be retrofitted with an XP-G, but for it to be just right it would need a new reflector, and maybe a backing shim, depending on whether the reflector was designed to reach into the head far enough.

On a personal note, my preference is for the larger-format LEDs. I don't much like these new tiny ones -- they're too hard to work with by hand, though I guess they might be easier for flow-soldering machines to work with.

Just sayin', the Arc6's beam as-is is absolutely gorgeous. Very smooth, and decently throwy given its shallow reflector.
