Since everyone here is keeping theirs (ive tried :poke:) Is $61 shipped a good deal for this light? Im looking for something like this for awhile and from what ive read its a great light.

I figure its not a bad price considering i would avoid having to pay for a $40 membership on top of whatever i bid (if i went the sams club route).

Otherwise if anyone does indeed have one they would be willing to part with drop me a message :candle:

Thanks Guys,

~Nick

I would say HELL YES! I bought mine off of the Sam's auction site but if you don't have a membership then paying $61 shipped is a great deal. You have to figure that this light is worth around $100 (at least) and this is a closeout price. It's by far the cheapest price that an HID has ever sold for.

If you have never seen an HID spotlight in person prepared to be completely shocked by the throw and overall output. It will put everything else you have to shame.

I would have paid a hundred for this light as well. Absolutely worth it:twothumbs

Oh yes, its a good deal for this light. Compared to an incandescent it is blinding. I always forget how bright mine is when using it indoors. Leaves me with light trails in my eyes for a few mins afterwards. ;)

Most def worth the current going close-out prices...

Best regards,

Light purchased! The brightest thing i own right now is a "20 million cp" vector spotlight.

Thanks guys

Nice! I'm sure you will be the envy of those less equipped around you. :) :twothumbs

UPS man just dropped mine off. WOOOWWW!!!!!! This thing is insanely bright, and it ain't even dark yet! Going to have a good time in the ole town tonight. I had to order another.

I wound up using mine today at work. I wound up in a dark furnace room trying to trace some wires with a single 60 watt incandescent bulb in the ceiling for illumination. I needed LOTS more light to manuever around the obstacles in the room safely, and I remembered that I had the Sams HID in my vehicle. It alsdo gave me the chance to show it off to a couple of co-workers.

These things are so bright I think you could bring planes in for landings with them LOL. When I swung the beam around in the sky the other night it reminded me of an airport beacon.

Yes, by all means!! Mine was $45 including shipping!! Other than a bonfire with $45 worth of wood, you'll never get this kind of illumination!!!

So what is recommended for the initial charge? Is it charge the battery completely, discharge until dead, then recharge or is there another preferred method?

Thanks!

You don't want to discharge it until it's dead. When it gets to a certain point, the bulb will start to flicker, which is actually damages the bulb. If you see it flicker (besides during startup), it's time to shut 'er down. Just charge it until it's full and you're all set. Also, make sure you keep it with a charge. If you use it for a good while, be sure to charge it as soon as possible, to avoid battery damage. It's just like a car battery. If it runs down and you don't charge it right away, you're not going to be able to charge it at all. Also, like a car, it will self discharge, so every so often (every few months should be good), even if you haven't used it, top it off.

Any tried to put a template in from of the lens to make it project a Bartman signal in the sky?

Closing prices' been averaging over $40 at Samsclub auction, plus about $13 tax and shipping for me, must be us CPFers bumping up the prices.

There was a thread on the AN/VSS-1 tank searchlight subject where that point about the batsignal was raised and apparantly it's easier imagined than it is doable.

too bad, I've always wanted one.

Just ordered one of these lights off ebay, best deal I found after browsing a week now was $61.99 plus $11.95 UPS, BIN auction. Same seller had them for $49.95 a week ago, it appears word is getting around that these are a steal. Only negative I see is the size of it, though it is (I hear) smaller than the Thor spotlight I have and much brighter.

I'd like to explore the possibility of getting an extra and taking all the guts and putting them into a Vector aluminum bodied 1.5 million CP spotlight I have, if they fit. May have to look around for the proper battery, but I wouldn't care about the runtime decrease.

You know the ones, that Vector made of aluminum extrusion in various power claims and sold everywhere. Good form factor, if this works it would be much more usable.

Nice light -- Really bright BUT I can only run it for 10 seconds -:mecry::mecry::mecry::crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup:
Then I'm covered with BUGS :barf:
