As mentioned in the title, I am unable to identify make, model, or manufacturer of this beautiful folder. One side of the blade "Explorer 11-444 440 Stainless". Other side stamped "Japan". It appears to be damascus with an eagle engraved onto the blade. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated to find the worth.

Aloha,

jag

You have a nice one there. That was my first thought but was unsure. Do you have a link for the info? I have an Explorer marked trapper and would like to follow-up on some others types they might list.

RA,

Sorry I cannot provide anymore information. I got the information from another friend who is heavily into knives. It is a Parker Brothers damascus folder. This particular model was manufactured in Japan. Other than what I have posted here in CPF, I have been unable to find any information online. I have been told that this IS a collector's item. I may put it up for sale or trade. It is a beautiful knife but not really my taste for EDC. This is for someone to add to their collection.

Aloha,

Explorer knives seem to be at the highest popularity in the 80's, I used to have a "Randall Style" fixed blade by them in 440C that I carried a lot fishing and woods roaming back then.

Most Explorer knives I've handled were decent knives.

Bear,

Do you know where I can find more information? It has been a frustrating search.

Google Gutmann Cutlery - an importer.

"Explorer was the house brand of Gutmann Cutlery."

I recall G96 knives being similar.
