At 3 AM You Are Awaken By Sounds Outside Your Door... What Light Do You Want?

At 3AM, the light really isn't that important to me. I'm not going to answer the door anyway. Anything important enough to knock on my door at 3AM should be important enough for them to wait until 5:30ish-when I get up. However, if they continue to knock on the door, I may try to establish the limits of their resolve by starting up my Husqvarna chainsaw in the foyer. If they're still around I may shine my Ra at them.

You know what? I actually have one of those. :D Not letting it loose in my house though!

For in home work I prefer something large bore with high capacity. Remember kids, let them get inside before killing them or you might get in trouble.

Without taking into account firearms or other self-defense tools, I'd likely grab my MZP7-3.

open the door slightly, roll out a flashbang, close door. :poof: open door again, assess damage, go on the lam realising that you flashbanged cops who were at the wrong door.

On a serious note, I'd probably use my 3D Mag which im using with a 6D bulb powered by three 3xAA-1D holders, for some strange reason i find incan more painful to stare into than LEDs.

Does anyone else feel that way??

If not that then my Jet III Pro ST, 1st mode low, 2nd mode set to the fastest strobe and 3rd mode to 225 lumens. I'm staying away from the Jet III Military as i would need a free hand to turn the bezel.

Or

M249 Special purpose weapon With SF M961XM07 with HO lamp

I would most probably go with the FN P90/M961XM07 Combo mainly for the ease of use in CQB :devil:

M961 is a pretty large light for the P90.

When I first read this thread I didn't pay much attention to the title, only the OP.

I was shocked that so many people answer the door with a weapon and a massive armada of flashlights..

Now that I understand why all of you people are "responding to noises outside in the AM which shouldn't be there" I get it :)

No one keeps a Magcharger by the door or bed? I would have thought that would be a good choice, if and when I get one.

In realistic terms,the best "bump-in-the-night" light remains the Magcharger;especially if it has a Phillips 5761 bulb(765 lumens).Cops have been beating hippies with this light for 3 decades!12.5 inches/2.1 pounds of bad intentions.Try beating an intruder with a Fenix LDO1!!!

See now if I had one id probably answer the door with it just for the "OHH !*#^^" factor but make sure to have my dad or someone behind me with the 45, 40, or 12g jst in case its a smart criminal (oxy-moron?) that knows no one in their right mind would actually fire that at close range!

I would at that point want no light, and some peace and quiet to go back to sleep. If someone wants to get through my door they are going to have to use a c4 charge, I lock up tight.
