Just got the $46 two mode Aurora P7. The color is a little blue, but it works great on my bike.

Thanks for the beamshots. Yes that beam appears quite blue. :sick2:

I would have to say the ROP low is worlds above it in crispness of image, but the P7 is interesting none the less. Thanks for the beamshots.

I suppose these beamshots are taken with white balance set to incandescent, because not even cool white leds look so blue in the real world.

I've seen many that are worse! A River Rock 2AAA a few Inova's and some china lights I've owned come to mind!

And a lot of the 5mm Nichia's are nearly that bad.

I doubt a P7 would be that blue. :) He just needs to set his camera's white balance to daylight and it will look much better. I'm guessing the white balance was set to incan. If you take a picture during the day, with just the light from the sun, and have the white balance set to incan, it will look just as blue.

My camera doesn't have a white balance setting, only exposure compensation.

To my understanding most cameras, computer monitors, et. are set by default to 6500K. My Mitsubishi monitor actually came set up to 8500K which was surprising to me, I had to change it to 6500K.

Then...I don't think it's compensating enough. I think Wade is correct judging by the color of the ROP Low. In your picture is creamy white instead of yellow/white.

Still, we got to see the amount of output so thanks for posting those. :)

My P7 came in today and it is very bright ... bright white with a hint of warmth. It is just as white as my car's HID headlights.

Re: Aurora P7 Beamshots:Updated Pix

Yes the white balance was on incandescent for the first set of shots. I redid the shots with white balance on sunlight. I didn't have the L2d with me this time.
The first set of pix makes the ROP look like it does in real life and the LEDs look blueish. This set of pix makes the LED look like it does in real life and the ROP looks wrong.
P. S. The Aurora is definately bluer than my Fenix L2D.
