AW mag incandescent driver with soft start

You are talking about the soft start/three level switches, right?........I have one of these in my C Mag, D Mag and now four of my Solarforce switches......they are all different products but do the same job and work well.

Does anyone have this switch? If so, what is the quality like? Is it worth $70

I have 2 of these. Worth $70? Hard to say, what are we comparing them to? I don't know of anything else that I can buy to do the same thing so I can't fairly say that I paid too much for them.

The quality & performance of the AW switch (I have the Mag D version) seems very high to me. They do what they are designed to do and the 3 levels is actually pretty useful. I have one that puts through about 190W on fresh batteries - no problems!

AW soft start 3 stage d cell switch

This switch has three brightness settings 30%, 60%, and 100%. If I run an osram 64623 on this switch and get 10 minutes of runtime at 100% then wouldn't I get somewhere around 25 minutes of runtime at 30%?

Re: AW soft start 3 stage d cell switch

You'll probably see more than 25 minutes provided the steps are true 30, 60, 100. This is because the battery delivers more capacity when the load decreases.

NotBrightNuf, you started 2 different threads for questions about the same item. You didn't need to do that - it's best to stick to 1 thread. Otherwise we get the same answers dupicated all over the place, and a lot of confusion. I'm merging the 2 threads.

does anybody else notice a buzzing with the switch?
other then that it works perfectly have to get ear right next to it to hear it.
I didnt buy it because of the soft start but more for the 30/60/100/off/strobe feature. Being its the only one like that out there (that i could find) makes it worth the money.

kind of unimpressed with the mr16's but im still experimenting.
might switch to a 458 or something :D

The buzzing you hear is from the resonance of the bulb filament under PWM, not from the switch components.
