I just received one of these and it works well. They come with no instructions or literature. Should you always start in low and progress to medium then high? I don't know if the bulb saving feature of the soft-start is still there if you power it up on high? I was a little surprised that it is a reverse switch powering on or off as pressure is released on the button.

Depends on your bulb/battery combo. Some combos require an even softer start than the AW switch provides, and they do need to start in low or medium. I discovered that the hard way while checking out another members 5761 powered by 2x Emoli 18650's.

Yes, it is. But, again, some bulb/battery combo's need an even softer start.

Momentary-on and soft-start are sort of incompatible, so there's really no need for a forward clicky.

Enjoy it.
You can use low / med with a combo that is way too hot to survive full open. You have the option of woringk the charge off in 'med' until it's low enough you can go all the way to 'high.'
It's a great trick, multi-mode incan's are very satisfying.
