Hi all. I just acquired a Borealis & was really happy with it, so I took a few beamshots + comparisons.

First of, BlackBear Flashlight's service was second to none. This Borealis puts out 1000+lumens & is very lite, with very good runtime. A superb practical small light. :)

Its my fav new small light. It feels like a weapon, & with the stipled reflector it puts out a very nice beam that is good for 100-150m no worrys IMO. Then theres the flood which I found useful too.

I compared it to some other ROFL cheap halogen lights like 1MCP spotlight & the RT500 (both 6v 55w with pathetic runtimes). The Borealis totally outperformed, with descent runtime, & is alot brighter then the RT500 & simular to the 1MCP. So I decieded just for fun, to give the Borealis a little competition. I put a 130w H3 bulb in the RT500. The RT 500 really needs a diffuser lens. The RT500 looks a little brighter in the pic I posted then in person. Not sure why, probably camera. Obviously the 130w has alot more light, but the Borealis has a better beampattern & is very lite n compact & practically.

I couldnt get any other shots of it in my yard or at a tree etc, my #$@!$% camera just got me frustrated, no matter what settings, it didn't look good enough to post.

Anyway a good compact, lite, practically, light.

Oh, forgot to ask: What type/wattage Bulb has this Borealis?
I already thought myself of getting one...Currently waiting for a Mag623 from a CPF-Member...

Regards

How did you get the voltage up to 12V for the 130W bulb?

GreyEminence, as far as I know, the bulb is 35w Incan. Not shore if its halogen, but its very small.

Monkeyboy, I just put a 12v 130w bulb in the RT500, then hooked it up to a SLA that could handle it.

This borealis packs a punch, I walk outside to check for intruders. Very lite feel, plenty of light to see what your doing. It's great.

IIRC, the Borealis is pretty much a Turnkey Mag85(well made one with all the good stuff). It uses an overdriven Welch Allyn 1185 bulb(Around 40 watts).
