In the Mesa County Sheriff's office in Grand Junction Colorado early yesterday morning there was a fire involving a battery that exploded in a charger in a sergeant's office. There is no information in any of the stories from media outlets about the battery's type or chemistry. It says a Deputy tried to control the fire with a fire extinguisher but couldn't so he closed the door and the sprinkler system put out the fire. I will try to contact the Media Contacts at both the Fire Department and the Sheriff's Office to see if they will tell me anything specific about the battery and charger involved. It may take a while to contact the Public Information Officers on the weekend. There is no information I can find on the Mesa County Sheriff's website about the fire. I found a press release on the Grand Junction Fire Department's website but it too has no specifics.

If you've made the last post in a thread, that thread won't show up in your searches for new posts.

Back on topic...

I'm certainly curious to hear details about the cell and charger used.

wow I'm starting think my cell phone, and other battery op stuff could be the death of me:twak::poof:

I was able to get more information today. I was told that the fire was from a lithium ion battery in the charger for a "Speed Monitoring Device".

So that's what women now days tell TSA screener's when they ask "what that long vibrating thing is," in their carry on bag:devil::hitit:

If you look at my last thread about Alkaline leak. That's exactly what the battery was in.

I'm so ashamed :(

Edit.. It wasn't mine. This isn't going to end well.

please don't go there, and for the love of god don't try to recover the thread by associating whatever you were thinking back to the topic on the thread title.

We don't need long vibrating equipment in any office:tired:
