Well I always thought quad emitters were more of a flood light. Even when I saw the Solarforce L900 I thought good throw for a P7, but still a flood light.

Those who have used a Tiablo A10 or Tiablo A9 w/Aspheric will agree that they can really throw. I had a 1D R2 MG aspheric lens that out threw those by a noticeable margin.

Then I took possesion of a 2C Mag build from Nailbender fitted with an MC-E and powered by 2 IMR C cells. This light throws just as far as my Mag Aspheric 1D R2 :eek::eek::eek:

I don't understand why it has sooo much throw, but I love it.

Elektrolumens P7 long throw. It has a 3" reflector vs the 2" (or smaller) reflectors of most of the other P7/MC-E lights.

There are a few aspheric P7s out there that can throw better.

for $40 from dx you get something fun, for $160 from any major manufacturer that throws about the same as the $40 light but is better quality and 'should' last longer, for $300 you get something a little special that throws about the same as the others.

i have 3 or 4 'throwers' (jetbeam, spear, p7 mag etc) in any practical application (outside in the dark) they all do very well. (about 250 feet)

but if you want to sit at home checking your while wall for 'artifacts' you might need to spend more

ya, I just played with the Jetbeam M1X, at the Ft Worth gun show, and It looked really impressive. In fact that's what originally put in my mind "hey maybe a quad core led can be a thrower." The only thing that kinda turned me off from the light was that it had a small hole in the middle of the hotspot. But the M1X that I tried had a smooth reflector, maybe it would look a little better with a little OP.

The M1X comes with an OP reflector and has that donut hole. I know of no smooth reflector for the M1X??

For some reason I distinctly remember seeing a smooth reflector on it, but maybe I'm mixing it up with another torch I saw. The lady working the booth at the gun show was so knowledgeable about flashlights, and you could tell that she really liked them (more than just superficial sale's pitches). It was kinda hot seeing a girl that knew her stuff!! :faint:
