easily soldered. it also doesn't react with raw uncoated aluminum the way copper does.

SUPER easy to machine and debur, with very minimal tool wear.

Brass is used because it's very easy to machine, and you can solder directly to it. It is not easy to get solid solder joints in Aluminum.

Also, drivers often need heatsinking themselves, especially in high power lights.
 
at heat levels we see in flashlights... brass is just fine.
ive got a few brass p7 lights and there's no issues with extended runtimes.

you cant solder to aluminum.
copper can cause galvanic corrosion.
silver is too expensive.

brass is the answer
