Cree XR-E Lantern

Nice!
Crees are perfect for lanterns, something that is kind of supposed to be a substitute for indoor lighting really needs to be bright and have long run time.

I saw that acticle too. The glare on these types of lanterns is so bad that I'm inclined to wait for models which include a diffuser and/or glare shield.

How many batteries does it take? When oh when is someone going to make a 1 AA LED lantern? It can't be that hard to do. The ones I've seen take multiple batteries.

I put a Cree in the Osram GD... its fantastic!! Glare is reasonable (barely tho!) as the dome is frosted and mine got extra frosted from superglue fumes. You can additionally stick translucent tape on the outside like I did for my RR. But no matter what, if you want a bright area light from such a small source, it's bound to be glaring if you look straight at it.

4AAs isn't too much of a problem for me.
