Hello All you Helpfull Chaps at CPF just wanted to know your views on the LumaPower D-Mini as an EDC!!!

How Many do carry this Monster as an EDC?:goodjob:

Also what are the pros an cons of this flashy can i buy anythin better than this or smaller with more throw than this, or is this the ultimate thrower in this range an size for a single Cell light :sold:!!!

Lastly where is the best bargain for this Flashy!!!!

Thanks In advance Guys:twothumbs

Kind Regards

Lastly will it solve all my everyday carry problems with power an runtimes dnt seem that bad if you have the 2 stage switch!!!:grin2:

Kind Regards

I EDCed it for a while, and it was just fine. Lots of throw and output for such a small light.

You can find a thread in the Manufacturer forum by Lumapower, where they mention prices for the various options as well as their PayPal address. They're great to buy from.

I think you'll like the D-mini. It's a well-made light.

Well the D Mini is by far the best throwing pocket light ever made! Around 10,000 lux on a RCR cell! Nothing anywhere near its size can compare. I do however think it is a little too large to EDC in your pocket anyway. That is the main reason why I sold mine. I loved the output on high and it is very useful with the two stage switch, but the head is too large around and makes it feel kinda bulky to carry in a pants pocket.
I am thinking about replacing it with a Amilite T5. It is similar in length but has a much smaller diameter. The output is also similar (MUCH less throw however) and has good runtime on a primary cell, where as the D Mini has better runtime on a RCR.

Hmm thats strange adirondackdestroyer becuz it says on the review that on the primary you have like an hour and on the RCRs you have around 35 mins

Check it out it seems to be better on the primarys if i am not wrong!!!

Thanks for your advice :twothumbs but i will EDC mine in my jacket pocket becuz i dnt go anywhere without it you see in the United Kingdom it is not as warm as the rest of the world :lolsign: i think it is a broken part of the north pole or sumthin:bumpit:!!!

Kind Regards

The D Mini is an awesome light for folks that really value throw in a relatively small light. For a jacket pocket, it should be perfectly fine but it is a bit bulky for a single 123 light.

EDC requirements will obviously vary greatly from person to person. Some like the 1x123 form factor while others seem to think that the 1xAA Fenix form factor is too big for EDC. My biggest complaint would be the single level of VERY bright output with the D Mini. If it were my EDC, I'd absolutely want something else a LOT dimmer on my keychain or something.

I don't EDC it. My LOD CE lives in my pocket.
BUT, every night I walk around neightbor and it resides in a top pocket.
Perfect, tactial switch to just "Blip".
Also have Lumapower M1 and a Nuwai 032 in jacket.
Perfect setup for anything I might need.
(Knife, pepper spray, Mr Colt also seem to be somewhere in 511 jacket.)
Might be a mistake to pick on and old retired cop?

I've had it with me since the day I got it. It has served me well, and will continue to do so. Winter time it has been in my coat pocket, in summer it will be in my bag with spare cells. Come summertime my Liteflux LF1 SSC P4 will handle most tasks with it's 8000 lux. The D-Mini is the perfect backup when more throwing power is needed. Unique in it's class.

Edit.
I always have two of everything that is of importance regarding my welfare. So I always do carry two lights, no light (or knife/tool etc.) can fulfill all needs. My choices for lights are the Liteflux LF1 modded with SSC and the D-Mini, many others have failed (miserably).

Cratz2 Lumapower have solved that problem now :lolsign: they have added a 2 stage switch low/high to the clicky at the back it would have been more desirable if it was a 3 stage low/med/high but hey that will do:sold:!!!

Kind Regards

I Prefer the Bianchi Accumold over the holster that comes packaged with the D-Mini. About $10

Free.Light Spartanian LED Flashlight with Cree Edision Edixeon LED 130 lumens

No, not even close. Take it for what it is. The D-Mini with a larger smooth reflector and a more efficient emitter... No contest. If you are looking for throw go LumaPower with smooth reflectors. Other lights might have more total output, but in spill mostly. I have measured the D-Mini at 140 metres, never seen anything like it.

I don't have a D-Mini but I've certainly read a lot about it here on CPF. It's definitely one of the most popular lights ever because most everybody who gets it is so impressed by it. Wish I could afford the LP-Mini.

You can get them from batteryjunction.com

LightScene,
why would you want to get the LP, brass will corrode over time. Better get the new HAIII version.

How will it corrode, it's nickle plated. Unless all the brass surface isn't plated.

All of my knives with brass fittings need to get cleaned from green corrosion with regular intervals. Maybe the whole light ís chrome plated, then it's not an issue. Brass does interact with oxygen and other gasses/metals, and so on. Brass is a living material.
