I let my daughter use my D10 to look for something and she brought it back about 10 min. later saying the battery is dead. I pushed the piston a few times...nothing. I set it on the desk and continued reading CPF.

About 5-10 min. later I grabbed the light and noticed it was still really warm. I loosened the head then tightened it and the light came back on. I let it run for a minute and it shut off. I put a fresh batt in and it turned back on for about 10 min. then shut off again. Still felt really warm after 10 minutes. I took the cell out and put it in my L1D and left in turbo for ~30 min. with no problems.

I put another fresh cell in the D10, did the same thing. I ramped the brightness down just under max and it seemed to work fine. ramped it back to max and it shut off again but continued to stay warm as if there was still current flow.

What do you think? I'm stumped.

:duh2:

I like the d10s great lights but looks like you should return to sender... for repair or replacement.

Maybe a short or certainly a malfunction.

Wow, I'll take the silence to mean Wade had it right!

Thanks man! I just thought maybe I was missing something simple.

My D10 that i bought from 4sevens, after five month of everyday usage, completely stopped working on AA batts. It only works on a 14000. I emailed fenix store and now waiting to see if they will fix it.

Huh? I haven't heard that one before. Do you mostly run it on AAs or 14500?

I was just reading another thread were the consensus was if you start a thread about a problem with a light you should follow up with the solution or the customer experience. Ooops!

I sent the light back to 4sevens. They sent the light back saying they found no problem. I put a fresh battery in and after 10 min. the light shut off but continued to get hotter.:scowl: I contacted them again. Trevor said he left it on max with several different batteries and did not see any problem. He said to send it back and I offered to include one of my eneloops to make sure it wasn't my batteries. I put one in fresh off the charger, turned it on until it shut off, loosened the head and sent it off. They sent it back with a new head.

I never found out if they saw the problem or not. Maybe they were just being nice because they thought I was crazy.

Needless to say, 4sevens will continue to get my business and I will continue to recommend them.
