Where can I find sources which compare the runtime of CL1H V3.0 2SM (can use 2 x CR123A) and CL1H V3.0 2SD/3SD/DI (use only 18650s) versions?

From what I know, I would say that SD/DI is the newer technololgy, but which only can handle 18650s. The SD/DI output is regulated and steady, the SM output depends on the actual battery V. I am right???

Any ideas? :faint:

The D(digital) ones can only use a 18650 (or any singe 3.7v Li-ion battery).

The M version modules would probably regulate well if the batteries stay above the Vf of the LED.

I'm not sure about comparing runtime graphs.

Thank you for your informations. Now, "SM" seems to be manually (and not digital) regulated. You can find anything on every flashlight in this forum, but no output/runtime-test, which compares the SM-Dereelights with SD/DI-versions directly. :candle:

It's my understanding that they are ALL regulated. The "M" in "SM" most likely means MANUAL switching since you have to turn the head switch from high to low light output whereas the "D" in "SD" most likely stands for DIGITAL switching because you are pushing a button and sending a signal to digital circuitry to adjust light output.

So many people in this forum are using Dereelight Flashlights, but there is also a lot lack of detail knowledge. It begins with guessing the meaning of "SM" and "SD/DI".

And no runtime charts which compares the SM-, SD- and SM-versions, especially the runtime in different modes. Come on people, there is a Nitecore Defender thread with all runtimes in all modes on all batteries and with 1000 postings, there should be Dereelight fans on this planet too. :twothumbs

If you think about it, the defender has 1 pill, not too hard to find a review(run times). The CL1H had at least 8 different pills available in the last 6 months. Dereelight constantly change and upgrade there pills. Try looking here http://www.light-reviews.com/reviews.html and also try searching the review section on this forum, Selfbuilt has a few charts there. One last thing, the pills have the same characteristics whether in the DBS or CL1H.
