here and there
If i'm going to run the pelican big D low in my everready do i have to run the 3aa to 1 mod or can te D's power it. Just trying to save every way i can.

D's will provide ~3 Volts to a bulb that wants 6 or move volts. So no it won't work; yes you have to. 6 NiMh AAs will provide much more voltage ~6.5 or more iirc.
And yes, you should use NiMh AAs.

Damn is there anywhere besides the marketplace i can get those adapters, i don't want to go through paypal.

I think Kaidoman, or however you spell the name of that store, has some adapters.

The Kaidomain adapters are not suitable for a ROP unless you want them to melt. Best they can manage is using them in a 2D along with a Mag-num Star Xeon 5 or 6 cell lamp.

Wow alright thats good to know. Well maybe i'll give that TerraLux TLE-5EX PR base mod a whirl and see how that goes. What do you guys/gals think about that.

Wow, I agree that is good to know! Thanks Marduke, I will remember that. It is great to have more experienced people on here to correct noobs (me).

You do know the above you linked is just the adapter, not the LED, right?

This is probably one of the best bang for the buck upgrades for a 3Cell MagLite.

Ohh no i didn't i should have read it more. With the mod that you just linked i wouldn't have to swithc to aa's would I?

No, it's a direct replacement in a 2-3 cell MagLite. However, best results would be with a 3cell

Edit:
However, you could use some parallel adapters and use NiMH AA's for guilt free lumens. Less runtime, but you can recharge.

Do you just want a bright light with lots of throw, or are you just wanting to do some modding??

Would it be a significant drop in power. Alos since this light is not focousable would it be good. It seems as is now that it's pretty much focused at spot, not much spill at all. I want a foucused spot beam.

The above is for MagLite only. Since you have not referenced what light you have, it's hard to help further.
