Yeah, that's pretty cool. Can't wait! I like the body with non-trimmed McLux PR head very much.

oh .... oh .... wow !
THAT is sweet!
I hope this will be the proto for the new McLux packs ... and that they'll be for sale to the pebble ... to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don,

This is a great-looking body. Does the E-series tailcap just screw directly into this body or is some modification needed to extract the actual switch assembly from the tailcap before installing it?

PS do you have a reliable source for the tiny trasers?

I'd rather have the kroll. Its far cheaper...

Hmmm. Might as well stick with a Minimag for REAL savings. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

This pak is just part of a learning curve on my new lathe as well as a step in the evolution process. Given the use of a Z57, SF Lanyard ring and the 4 traser vials, this pak is not destined for a limited production run nor was that the intent. If you look at the pic:

tail-detail.jpg

You can make out the use of the rubber boot and sealing nut from the Z57 tail switch as well as the switch itself. I copied the dimensions from the Z57 as best I could to insure that the switch is seated and sealed in the tail of this pack in the same manner it is in the Z57 tail switch. If a limited production power pak were to be contemplated, I would look at using the Kroll switch body but sourcing a rubber boot like the SF or PM6 boot and retaining it with a nut as well. We are pretty much stuck with the Kroll and it's not a bad switch. I certainly wouldn't mind not using the stock Garden Gnome rubber cap that we have all come to love so much! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wasn't planning to post this pak here until I had the finished part in hand and had tried it out. This pak addresses some of the shortcomings of my current single 123 EDC but I won't know if I've found the solution that I want until I try this. I have received a few e-mails on this pak so I figured I should make some comment here.

THAT'S IT!! I'm getting me a lathe. Lovely work, McGizmo. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

What type of lathe is your new lathe and what are your impressions of it so far during your learning curve?

InitialImage,

After wanting one for almost 30 years, I was finally able to acquire a completely referbished Hardinge Precision Toolroom lathe with DRO. My impressions? I am not worthy and I can now spend the rest of my time here on the planet trying to master and deserve the access to this fine tool! I have owned various small boats that cost more and provided hours of enjoyment and satisfaction. In the long run though, this lathe will likely bring me more pleasure and its storage and maintenance are nothing compared to previous "toys". I am currently trying to scratch out a living with designing, prototyping and simple assembly and sales of various lighting components I have designed. I get to use the new lathe for both work and play. My only regret is not making a commitment years ago and getting one of these. As our society moves away from actual manufacture and production, fine tools like these sit unused and slowly rusting away. The owner of the precision rebuilding company that I bought this lathe from now runs a backhoe service for income. Perhaps in a few years, he will sell his building and a fast food joint will go up in place. The large grinders and other precision machines he once used will be recycled as scrap metal and be barged to the pacific rim to be used in the manufacture of something new that we import. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif
