Been looking around and as ppl have mentioned, these are dull days for a flashaholic. Though I think we either need a break or another hobby lol.

While many manufacturers have updated their products, some have not for awhile.

Are these guys waiting for new LEDs?
Are they waiting for the end of their development cycles?
Are they (gasp) dead in the water?

Here are a few off the top of my head....please correct me when/if I'm wrong :)

Garrity - Website not updated for a long time, from what I've seen in the stores, I'm not seeing anything new either.

Streamlight - Haven't seen anything new from them in a LONG time. Am I missing something here, I think it's time to move up from the Lux I/IIIs. Not my type of lights, but I'd like to see something new from them.

Stanley - Max tripod lights - I've heard that they updated the LEDs in these, both the large 9 AA and the keychain lights (platinum series I think).
Haven't seen anything new on them, though last I checked they weren't available in Canada.

Energizer - Hard case models - Website only shows the lantern model. In Home Depot (here near Toronto, Canada) I've seen the 2 AA (3 5mm leds) for $ 19.99 and a few other odd looking models as well as the giant lantern. I must say the packaging looks really cool for these. Almost tempted to grab one as a beater light.

Dorcy - Well at least they're pumping out some K2s, slow but steady there
Mag - Took forever, but hey look where they're at now!

Surefire - I'm especially looking forward to thr Cree'd E2L or E1L. I'm probably gonna go for the E2L later this year.

What other mfgr's would you like to see take the next big step?

Most won't improve until it seems needed. Since most of the public have never hear of Cree or Seoul and their twice as efficient as Luxeon LEDs. Heck, most of them don't know the differences of LEDs, they can't tell a 5MM from a Luxeon. All LEDs look the same to them. Surefire will probably the first to push out Cree lights, the general public won't know until Dorcy comes out with sub $40 Cree lights.

Most of the Chinese manufactures started changing months ago, look at Ultrafire, Lumapower, Huntlight. Fenix etc. but the most are unheard of in the US.

I would like to see Dorcy and Maglight take the next step and enlighten the general public.

Lol George...........

I meant M@g seems to be doing well with their LEDs. They're almost always sold out or close to it when I check that section.

I think that the increased costs in an unproven leading edge tech, is a reason for such slow progress. And the public is equally slow in adapting.

There is still a lot of work to be done here, plenty of opertunities as well
