i've searched high and low on here, the sandwich shoppe, dx, kai, and anywhere else i could find, but cant find what i'm looking for. i would like a multi mode driver board, anything from just hi-low to high-mid-low-strobe-sos or the like. the trick is, i would like high to only be maybe 350-500ma, and low to be real low like 50ma. now the real kicker is i would like it to run on 3.6 volts like an 18650. anyone know of such an item? i want to build a light for runtime and even at 350 ma, a q5 will still be about 115lm, so thats plenty for an edc. i would like an ultra low mode for close up work, or emergency situations where runtime is needed. thanks in advance!

Why not get one of the 5 mode boards from DX and unsolder two of the three AMC7135 chips? I presume the 5 mode controller does it by PWMing the AMC7135, so having just one would limit you to a maximum 350mA. Hm?

i'll see if that works, i have a bunch of those boards on their way to me right now (its been like 2 months since i ordered them, but...) i'll give that a shot. has anyone else out there tried this before? thanks for the idea. i wonder what the currents would be at the other levels.

My guess is you would have roughly 350mA, 120mA, and 70mA, then strobe and SOS of course.

You wouldn't even have to remove the extra two chips from the board, just disconnect the Vdd pin for each of them, which might be as simple as cutting the trace on the board.
