Hello everybody, just wish to share a little mod I did on my wf500 that I thought you would find useful. This simple modification allows the wf500 to utilize any bi-pin bulb that you feel like using and its dead easy. I hope all the pictures help convey this easy mod. You will need an original bulb assembly and a cheapo bi-pin holder (available at most hardware shops or lighting shops).
Use a small butane torch or high watt soldering iron to remove the brass ring from the pcb board ( a candle would work too).
This is a worthwhile mod and costs next to nothing. As stock I found the wf500 excellent value for money ($25) and with the right bulb it is easily comparable and cheaper the many lower level mag mods. My next little project with this light is to get a few 18650 lifepo4 cells and throw a nice big watt bulb in there. It will have crappy runtime but it will be bright!
