Coming from a long line of ham operators, a faraday box is normal. In some aspects looked at much like a fire extinguisher , in that it's monitored, maintained, occasionally upgraded, and hopefully never used :)
FoxFury has a light that is being marketed to address the EMP concern.
Would like to open one up, but at the current price, that's unlikely. Appears to be a simple direct drive type of light engine, but can't be sure.
Interesting. From the pictures it looks like there is a fine wire mesh covering the lens, although I couldn't find any reference to this in the product's specs or manual.

FoxFury is based in California, but IIRC the majority of the product line is imported.
It is a interesting design, but hard to tell too much from the website info alone. A few years back I used one hardhat headlight product from FoxFury , It failed in the initial hour of use and left me with a poor first impression of the brand.
