Posted this over on BF but really interested in what my fellow flashaholics think :D :

Well, I got rid of my last minigrip 555 about 4 months ago [sold it here on cpf :)] and, though I pretty much just carry fixed blades now, find myself missing the little guy.

With that said, I have owned about four mini grips and one full size but, all in the model 555/550 with "sheeps foot" blade - just loved it.

Curious about maybe purchasing a different style and wanted to see the popularity in the BF community...

So, what is your favorite Mini-Griptilian/Griptilian blade shape? Why?

What drove me to the 555 shape was simply that I thought it looked the least aggressive, as it was an EDC, and I really like the thumb hole over stud - I find studs to get caught when taking the knife out/putting it away.

I have several and "had" more. I prefer all the clip point style blades as they are designed to cut. A Tanto is designed for thrusting and larger Katana's are also good for slicing, however, similar to the Tanto, except "Americanized and it has no curve, so not so good for slicing as the clip point

My favorite is the Mini Ritter M2, no longer made

Next, the Mini in D2

Then, the Ritter Mini S30V

Next, Mini 154CM clip point, then th 440C

The Mini is one of my all time favorites

PLEASE, can someone help me ?

I just can´t decide between MDP or sheepfot blades! I´ll gonna buy one Mini Grip, but I can´t decide between the blades...

It will be my first griptilian.

Can someone point me some pros and cons about those blades ?
Do they have the same thickness ?
And what about the point (tip) ? Is it the same ?

I like the sheepfoot design, but I don´t like that big "spyderhole" on it. I like the MDP too, but it looks like too common for me... just like my others folders.

HELP!

First of all, http://www.knifeart.com/bladgeomfaqb.html

Having read that, ask yourself what's more important: looks or functionality. If looks are more important, then no one can help you there. If functionality is more important, consider what you'll be doing with your knife. I prefer drop points because they're versatile. Not as great at piercing as an American Tanto, not as good at slicing as a recurve. Easier to sharpen along its entire length than both!

Drop point, plain edge, satin finish. Versatile, easy to sharpen, and no black coating to show wear. And yes, I do prefer the look of a drop point blade. So 551/556 or 552/558 is my answer. =)
