Hey guys i think im in need for some help i bought a fenix t1 about a year or so ago and loved it ever since i owned it, i read all the reviews and comments on how resilient it is to abuse so i thought i would get one for my job (Diesel Mechanic) i used it for a while with no problems at all. The only thing that scared me was a slight high pitched noise coming from the light i thought nothing of it at first but as i have been using it ive noticed the light isnt nearly as strong as it usually is i used to be able to throw a beam all the way across the shop and now i cant even see the light on the wall standing 20 feet away, so i thought mabey its low on batterys went got a new set of batterys no change at all, but i noticed when i took off the end cap of the t1 it smelled like burning electronics

so now i know somthings wrong. If anybody knows whats going on id love to know and get it fixed! And by the way the batterys i mainly use is 123 rayovac i hate them but there free and duracell 123's

Sounds like your switch melted somehow, upped the resistance and hence reduced the voltage heading to the head, lowering the output. Solution: New switch, either bought from fenix-store, or try to warranty it with your original seller.

Remove the tailcap and bypass it. Short the batteries and end of the tube. If it lights up, you just need a replacement switch, which is an easy (and warrantied) fix if you bought it from a reputable dealer.

Well i dont think its the switch, switch works perfectly fine although i tried shorting the battery bypassing the switch and still the same output i think the burning smell is coming from the head of the light i bought my light from the fenix store although i dont know the exact date i bought it and i cant find my warranty card is there anyother way to warranty this? The light still puts out ok power but still nothing compared to how it used to launch a beam

Fenix-Store sent you an email with an order number back when you ordered the light. That, or simply call them with you name and approximate order date and they can look up your order.

I just checked my email and found my order number :D so im going to call up tomarro and see what i can get done with them hopefully i get it back soon because it stinks not having a light inspecting dumptrucks :mecry:thanks for all the help guys i appreciate it

i was dumb that time, this is how it went, hey these two coincells are 6 volts, and my huge battery is 6 volts, (running to go try it) whats that smell?, hey did a fly fly into the lamp again? why wont it light up? whoo thats hot!

I laugh because I did the same only worse!

I (knowing nothing about electronics) plugged one into the wall outlet and it actually popped in my hand like popcorn! I got burned a little and I fell in love with LED's somehow. It was a very weak ON indicator led from something I took apart and I was 12.
