I am an avid flashlight collector and I frequent the LED section of this forum but I have recently become interested in purchasing a HID light. I was looking through the forum and saw Polarion as a frequently discussed brand and I was really impressed with their pf40 light until I discovered it cost $2500. I would like a light similiar to this obviously much less expensive but just as tough. I would like atleast 2500-3000 lumens in a compact hand held package that will run for 90+ minutes. I will probably be turning the light on and off frequently so that must be taken into consideration. I prefer lights that can be held by the body like a normal light and not by an external handle. I would also like the light to be water resistant to atleast 100 feet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also, does anyone have a ballpark estimate of how much the Surefire Arc1 and 2 will cost if they are ever released?

With regards to the Surefire Arc 1 & 2, I don't think anyone actually knows what the price will be but we were taking some "educated" guesses at it here:

Only a couple of lights meet your output and runtime parameters and those are the L35 and Acro RL-11, aka A3150. They don't even come close to matching your water resistance specs and can't be hand held by the body though due to their design.

The least expensive light to meet all of your requirements except for being able to grasp the body is the RL-12. Notice the run-time. 🙂

At some point, Mac of Mac's Customs might begin building and selling his 50W two stage HID with XeVision components but at this time I'm not sure if that's something which will ever happen. Last time I asked about it there wasn't even a response. That said, it's highly unlikely that it will be specified water resistent to any depth. By definition you're talking about a "Dive" light and those are particular creatures with a price tag to match.
