Finally got my 20 mode 1050ma Regulator from DX SKU 7879 installed it inside MTE 5 mode Rebel 100 CR123 flashlight. The diameter of the driver itself is a little bigger than the original 5 mode so filing is expected but not much.

I like this particular driver despite its 20 modes which some might hate it for being to many modes :) What i like best is there is an extra low low mode which i could say even lower than the low low mode, i did not even notice that the light is actually switch on when i tried the first time and cycling the modes. it is that LOW and almost useless.

The modes available is not listed yet on DX website but here are the modes observed by me.
20 modes seperated into 3 groups.
1. Extra Low > Low > Medium > High > Extra Extra Low* > Standby (10s beacon)
2. Low > Medium > High* > Strobe > Police Strobe > SOS
3. Low > Medium > High* > Strobe > Police Strobe > 3 Hz Strobe > 1 Hz Strobe > SOS

* This is where you will get the signal to change modes, after the single-blink signal notifies you switch off the light then when switched on it will be on the next group. Switching mode is similar to other flashlight.

I did some test on battery draw.
Extra Low(4.4mA) > Low(60mA) > Medium(270mA) > High(1A) > Extra Extra Low(1mA)* > Standby (10s beacon edit: more like 5 seconds)

I am not sure how true the Extra Low and Extra Extra Low since it not even registered in my 10A scale, the LOW and EXTRA LOW is the reading i got from switching to 200mA scale on my DMM. Now Imagine how low the light is with 1mA.

Only group 1 has the Extra Low and Extra Extra Low the other group 2 and 3 start with normal Low.

for those who like extra low low low this is the light for you :)

No runtime plot or efficiency for this time sorry..

Please forgive my English if you dont understand it then my bad. :p

Thanks

Have you noticed if the driver has a mode memory like the 5 mode driver sold by them, 2 seconds or more on - then it comes on at the same mode?

I think I'd want to throw the thing at the wall after using it for a few minutes. I can barely stand modes that aren't strictly necessary on 5-mode lights; with a light like this, where I have to learn a bloody interface in order to operate it, I'd go insane. :p

The XXlow mode might be useful as a night light or "find me" beacon. How low is it? Is it sufficient for reading something at a distance of, say, 15cm (half a foot)?

@Stefan: yes it does have memory function i am not sure how many seconds needed but i always count to 5 before switching it off.

@Fallingwater: Yes some people will hate this driver :) too much to bare. There is a 16 mode driver on DX which has 1 mode that only contain low>med>high while the other 2 are still contain strobe, SOS and the stuffs.
The XXlow is really low you can still use it to read something on a white paper from 15cm but other than that you really need adjusted eyes(in the dark) to use it. It is really low that you can actually stare directly infront of the emitter, i would say it is about 3-5 times brighter compared to when you test a Cree with diode test.
