Well... First time posting, and sharing;
This site is not only addicting, but worse than a porn addiction. Okay, bad analogy... but you get the point!!
I read up a lot on this site, enough to go buy a Stanley HID from Wal Mart. Love it. And I'm not knew to HID, so it was a treat to have a hand held rechargeable HID for under a $100. Nicely built, great beam (throw and spread), and not too ugly, heavy, or overly priced.
Buying that light, and this site... led me to thinking, I had a rechargeable OLLLLD hand-held spotlight in my motorhome. Got used a few times a year to find the perfect camp spot during the winter months. But the battery had died, and it only worked plugged in. Never thought of replacing the battery, as it seemed it would have been more than the light was worth.... SOOoooo, after reading this site, and having lots of HID parts laying around the house... I decided to tear into it (with the idea I was getting some H3 4300K bulbs in this week), and even cut out the 8000K from the Stanley (as it's being replaced with a 4300K tomorrow - when I get them in).
Here's the light, opened up and asking to be MOD'd;
The old (dead) battery that came out of it;
LOTS of room for ballast and igniter;
I had to cut the bulb out of the Stanley, and re-wired it to some connectors I cut off of a bad H4 bulb;
The slim ballast fit easily, with loads of extra room;
Anxious... I wadded it all up, hot glued some... zip tied the rest, and Wha-La;
Instant plug in HID;
So much for a wolf in sheeps clothing (1 million candlepower?!?! );
BTW, because of this site, I also have a 200MW laser Flashlight coming Monday. I need to put down the mouse... and step away from the PC.
