G2 Quit Working

I tried puting 2x 3.6 rechargables in my G2 and it came on for a split second then went dead. I guess I fried my p60 drop in? So if I buy a drop-in rated 3.0-9.0v it should work fine with my rechargeables?

I got one of those, but it's not terribly bright on a 17650. In the reviews it's stated that it's not much brighter on 2XRCR123, but can anyone confirm that's true? Since the voltage input is so wide, shouldnt the light be a lot brighter with more voltage? Or is there a circuit that regulates the light output regardless of the input?

I have this drop-in in my G2. I run it with 2 x CR123 lithiums at 6V total. It's very bright....much brighter than the stock P60
