Gladius SSC P4 Emitter Latency?

Comparing the Gladius with the SSC P4 upgrade to the U2A (SSC P4) and some other lights last night, I noticed that when the Gladius is powered off, the emitter glows for a short period before going dark. None of my other LED lights do this. I assume this is the result of some kind of current latency in the Gladius, rather than some defect in the emitter or some sign of overdriving (since it occurs even at the lowest level)?

Your thoughts welcome.

My LiteFlux LF5XT does the same (independent of the light level). It uses a different emitter (Cree XR-E Q5, in my case). I always attributed this behavior to the design of the driver, not to the emitter per se. Note that the circuit in this flashlight is not disconnected from the battery when powered off. I don't know how your Gladius works, but this could explain the "afterglow", which to me looks kind of cool  ...
