I ordered on Monday and got it Friday? I have no idea how it got here so fast but I'm not complaining! Excellent packaging as usual. The quality of this lamp looks so much better than the SF lamps (E series). You have to see it yourself to compare.

When I put the lamp in my E1e, I threw in a protected rcr123 (DAE) and was disappointed to find that it wouldn't light, even with a few clicks. I tried another one and it lit up, but it wasn't very bright. I decided to try an unprotected cell and it worked great! There is almost a blue tint which I am not used to with incans. It's only 2:45pm here, so I'll have to wait a few hours before I can try it outside. So far, it's definitely brighter than the standard MN01! It has a much larger spot too. I haven't tried to compare it yet, but this little lamp might be close to the P60 in output! I'm charging up all of my batteries so I can try it out tonight! I'm hoping my protected cells just needed to be charged up.

I just tried it for you. It is VERY yellow and not bright at all. I would not recommend a primary with this lamp. They do make a lamp specifically for a primary though. Might be worth checking out!

Bryan,

We used AW protected RCR123A (750mAh) to test the EO-E1R, it lighted up with one click. If you use some lower capacity protected RCR123A, it may not be lighted up as the current of the EO-E1R is 1.3A at 3.6V. Of course, unprotected RCR123A is no problem as it normally can give out more juice.

The HO-E1A is designed for one primary CR123A, but it only gives out 40 lumens at 2.4V, the current draw is about 1.15A, so the runtime is about 65 to 70 mins.

Enjoy playing it.

I used a DAE 750mAh protected cell but it may not have been fully charged. I don't think the older DAE cells are as advanced as the BatteryStation and AW high current cells. I just threw them on the charger anyway so I can try them out a little later.

I did a quick comparison to the MN01 and wow what a difference! You guys did a great job with this E series line!

I charged up my protected cells and indeed, it fired right up! It must have been a while since I charged them. Sorry if I scared anyone in my first post!

I ordered my EO-E1R intending to use it with the larger 17670/18650 cells. I'm not sure I want to subject the smaller li-ion cells to a 1.3 amp discharge rate. I guess it's still under 2C, but closer than I'm comfortable.

I'd think the HO-E1R would be a better match for a R123A cell.

Yeah I'm not too concerned about that really. I'm sure it will work great with the 17670 as well though.

Brain fart, I was thinking of the HO-E1A!

It should be just fine with either the Battery Station cells or AW's new high current RCR123's. I've run P90 lamps off of the Battery Station RCR123's with no problems and I think it drew around 1.6 amps if my memory serves correctly.
